Not All 3D Print Files Are Created Equal
Here's something worth knowing before you download: not every STL or 3MF file online is designed well. Some files print beautifully first time; others have design flaws that cause problems on the printer — and it's not always obvious just from looking at a picture.
Before you choose a file, it pays to do a little homework:
- Check the comments section. Other makers who've already printed the file will often share their experience — what worked, what didn't, and any tweaks or settings they'd recommend. If a file has design issues, this is usually where you'll find out.
- Check the download or “print” count. A file that's been downloaded and printed many times, with positive feedback, is generally a safer bet than one nobody has tried yet.
- Read any notes from the designer. Many designers include printing tips, recommended settings, or known issues directly on the file page.
Taking a minute to check this can save you time, save on wasted material, and mean the piece we print for you comes out exactly as you imagined it.
A Note on Licensing
Most files on these sites come with usage terms set by the original designer — some are free for personal use only, while others allow commercial printing. If you're ever unsure, feel free to ask us and we'll do our best to help.
